Faces and Names: Thoughts on the Arrest of a Harvard Professor

So, so much controversy around the arrest of Professor Henry Louis Gates, Jr.

As with most controversies, no pancake is so thin there aren't two sides.

For me, however, there's an a priori question.

Are we now to the point where we not only don't know our neighbors by name, we don't even know them by face?

I know many of my neighbors by face, some by name. 

I could do better.

Maybe you can too.

The last time President Obama called us to serve our communities was Martin Luther King Day. In St. Louis, we saw record numbers of people serving. One project our Lindell ward participated in was eight times the size it was the previous year.
